As the world continues to shrink with advances in technology, outsourcing and off-shoring, and increased immigration, there will be a need to understand other perspectives in order to compete successfully and survive - in school, in business and in life. Sonja Williams is the Owner and Chief Business Consultant at Passionate About Diversity, LLC, an Atlanta-based consulting operation with expertise in Human Capital Management, and Diversity & Inclusion. Sonja is a member of the Society for Human Resource Managers [SHRM], is a guest instructor for the Institute for Diversity Certification, and has more than 20 years of corporate experience in two disciplines - Accounting and Human Resources, specifically diversity and compliance. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Mercer University and an MBA in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix – Atlanta campus. Sonja is the author of The Introduction to Diversity [a reference guide for now and the future], available at Amazon.com.
In addition to human capital management and diversity and inclusion work, Sonja has a passion for teaching youngsters about the importance of finances on every day decisions and life in general. To that end, she has been a guest facilitator and trainer for Atlanta Public School’s Project for a Day where she trained several volunteers from the business community to deliver the content for “The Big Picture” (Middle School) and “My Potential Life” (High School) financial literacy programs. Sonja’s second book, also available at Amazon.com is From Start to Finish…but Before I Retire, which is a quick read designed to give middle-school aged children a look at life has to offer and related responsibilities.
Passionate About Diversity, LLC has performed work for the Atlanta Braves, the Hemophilia Society of Georgia, Groome Transportation, Marmi, Czarnowski, and others.
Sonja’s corporate experience includes stints with Blue Linx, Inc. [formerly Georgia-Pacific’s Building Products Distribution Division] as Director of EEO and Workforce Strategies, Georgia-Pacific’s Controller’s Organization – 16 years in various division including Communication Papers, Pulp and Bleached Board, and Building Products Distribution.
